Goode and Waldrom given first England starts against South Africa
Saracens' Alex Goode will make his first Test start on Saturday in an England side containing six changes from last weekend's second Test. Danny Care, Thomas Waldrom, Tom Palmer, Alex Corbisiero and James Haskell have also been included in the starting XV to face South Africa at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. With Chris Robshaw and Ben Youngs both out injured, the head coach Stuart Lancaster was always going to have to reshuffle his lineup. England's improved second-half effort in Johannesburg, though, has earned promotions for Corbisiero, Palmer and Waldrom, with Goode starting at No15 instead of Ben Foden who has been named on the wing. The 24-year-old Goode won his first cap as a late replacement at Ellis Park. The team will be led for the first time by Dylan Hartley in the absence of Robshaw, who has been ruled out of the rest of the tour with a cracked thumb. Mouritz Botha and Joe Marler drop to the replacements' bench, while Ben Morgan and David Strettle miss out altogether. Brad Barritt has recovered sufficiently from an eye injury he sustained in Durban to be included among the replacements. Care and Haskell have both had to wait patiently for their recalls. The scrum-half was excluded from the Six Nations Championship on disciplinary grounds while Haskell has been playing in Japan and New Zealand. Both now have a chance to make up for lost time against a Springbok side seeking a 10th successive Test victory over England.
