Lily Allen appears on MySpace

Remember when MySpace was considered such a game-changer that Rupert Murdoch paid $580m (£354m) for the social networking website? That was in July 2005, and four months later, Lily Allen started posting mixtapes there. "I think the secret to the success of MySpace is that you're not being sold anything," the aspiring star told the Guardian in March 2006, months before her first release. MySpace isn't up to much, music-wise, these days, but no one can deny the importance of such sites in shaping pop discourse.
