Cambridgeshire and Virgin sign £70m framework

Cambridgeshire county council has agreed a framework deal worth up to £70m with Virgin Media Business. The contract could see the company supplying a range of communication services across the county, as well as to other councils, the NHS, and emergency and community services. A contract award notice in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) says that the framework covers network management and support, telecommunications networks and equipment, wireless infrastructure and internet services, plus helpdesk and support services. Organisations that can use the framework include Peterborough and Luton fire authorities; Fenland, Huntingdonshire, and South Cambridgeshire district councils; Cambridgeshire Community Services, and Hinchingbrooke health care NHS trust, Cambridgeshire Police Authority, parish councils and various citizens advice bureaux. According to the OJEU notice, the lowest expected value is £20m, but this could reach £70m. This article is published by Guardian Professional.
